Up, Up, and Away!
With our store being on the top floor of a two story building built in 1914, access to our showroom and upper floor classroom has been, by means of a series of steep steps, causing problems for customers bringing in their larger sewing machines for onsite classes and repairs, as well as presenting challenges for customers and visitors with disabilities.
To mitigate this problem we have developed a plan to have an outdoor mechanical lift installed from our parking lot to the top floor of our building for bringing equipment into our showrooms and "upstairs" classroom and for use by our ADA customers.
We have been issued the required permits for this work from the City of Corning and have had measurements taken by a contractor hired to do the building alterations for this installation.
STAGE 1 - October 14th - 23rd
Ground has been broken and the base has been leveled to the level of the adjacent parking lot. The forms, rebar, and concrete for the base "pad", which will support the weight of the lift itself, have been built and poured. A few parking spaces have been temporarily sectioned off to allow for this construction.

Christmas Stocking Donation Program
Let’s make Christmas stockings to donate to the Corning, CA Fire Department's Christmas Effort.
As of July 7, 2020, visit our store to pick up a free Christmas Stocking pattern and a free fat quarter to begin working on your project. Every stocking you make filled with small small new toys and donated to our shop, you will get a raffle ticket for a chance to win a $100.00 store gift card. For every empty stocking or small new toys donated qualifies a raffle ticket for a chance to win a $50.00 store gift card.
All donated completed Christmas Stockings, filled or empty, or any donated new small toys, are due at our store by Saturday, December 5, 2020. The issued raffle tickets will be drawn on that day to find who the winners of the gift cards are.
When future workshops are scheduled, sign up to reserve a spot, bring in your sewing machine, and sew your stocking(s), and decorate them however you would like. Our goal is to have at least 80 full Christmas Stockings to donate by December.
